Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you serve?
Can my children be with us while we garden?
Is companion gardening the same as companion planting?
No - companion planting is planting plants together that support each other to grow well. For example tomato and basil. (Basil attracts beneficial insects, deters pests, and encourages vigor in tomato plants through its aromatic compounds. Tomatoes’ deeper root systems help bring nutrients up for basil plants to access.)
Companion gardening is working in your garden with another gardener who helps make the process more productive, enjoyable or achievable for you.
Yes. As well as being an experienced mother, I am trained in postpartum education and care, and early childhood education and care. If your children are playing alongside or helping us, I will interact appropriately with them, and be flexible when your children’s needs change while we’re working.
I am a family-friendly, parenting-friendly, child-friendly business.
Why garden with a companion?
Gardening is a simple way to access a connection to nature.
But it can easily become overwhelming or another task on the do-to list, especially as a busy parent.
And for other people, having a disability, an injury or getting older may mean you feel you can’t garden as you’d like. But maybe, with a companion, you can.
With companion gardening, I work with you, not just for you, in your garden.
You don’t have to let go of control, and you still access all the benefits of gardening:
nature connection
home grown food - healthy, local, fresh
moderate exercise for physical health
mental health and well-being
resilience - new skills, food security
beauty, flow and creative expression
My aim is to support you to meet your gardening goals while helping gardening be regenerative for you.
How we achieve this varies from person to person. It usually includes:
bringing tools, seedlings, seeds, soil and mulch - or using yours if you prefer
working with you physically on site
helping you talk through ideas
making suggestions and referrals if needed, and providing follow-up information
supporting you to keep your project or goals on track
providing company and empathetic conversation while we work, intermixed with companionable silence as you need.
I specialise in working with a flexible, feminine, child-friendly approach - perfect for busy mothers (and fathers) who want to garden but need a hand making it work.
How much you work with me depends on your needs on the day – it's flexible, and we communicate.
I offer vegetable gardening and companion gardening services in Dunsborough, Quedjinup, Quindalup, Yallingup, Eagle Bay, Kealy, Yallingup Siding, Anniebrook, Marybrook, Siesta Park and Vasse.
I can provide my gardening services at your home garden, or at your community garden plot.

Who can request your vegetable gardening or companion gardening services?
Anyone is welcome to request vegetable gardening or companion gardening services – male, female, non-binary or other, and any age.
How is your vegetable gardening service different from your companion gardening service?
My vegetable gardening services are different from companion gardening as I do the gardening for you during my sessions, rather than us working together. You don't need to be there.
I manage your vegetable garden for you, in a consultative way. For example, we can discuss what kinds of vegetables you'd like to be harvesting, whether you will be working in the garden yourself at other times, and how you'd like the garden to look and feel.
